Description	:	Walter Charles Hill, son of Charles and Elizabeth Hill was born April 10, 1895 at Sibley, Iowa. He spent his boyhood in the Sibley and Alta communities and in 1912 he moved to Brookings, South Dakota. After serving overseas in the United States Army in World War I he returned to Brookings, South Dakota. On February 18, 1925 he was united marriage to Sylvia Simonson. Read More	Walter Charles Hill, son of Charles and Elizabeth Hill was born April 10, 1895 at Sibley, Iowa. He spent his boyhood in the Sibley and Alta communities and in 1912 he moved to Brookings, South Dakota. After serving overseas in the United States Army in World War I he returned to Brookings, South Dakota. On February 18, 1925 he was united marriage to Sylvia Simonson. To this union were born four sons. They made their home on a far south of Alta for a short time and then returned to the Brookings community. Upon the death of his wife he returned to the Alta community where he has made his home until the time of his death. Walter passed away on Nov. 5, 1968 at the Buena Vista County hospital at the age 73 years six months and 25 days. He was preceded death by his wife Sylvia in 1937, by three sons, Niles in 1929, Wedell in 1953 and Marvin in 1968. His parents also preceded him in death. He is survived by one son Leonard of Alta, a brother Frank of Alta, five grandchildren along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, November 8, at 2 PM form the Jones Funeral Chapel at Alta, Iowa with the Rev. Clarance Beard officiating. Vocal selections were sung by Lawrence Turnquist accompanied at the organ by Mrs. David Pedersen. Interment was services were held on Saturday, November 9, the at 1:30 PM at the Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings, South Dakota with the Rev. R. D. Pittenger officiating. This information was published by the Alta Advertiser, November 21, 1968.
