Description	:	Westminster, SC – Walter Clayton Burdette, 88, husband of Christine Stephens Burdette of 511 Old Seneca Road, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Wilburn Frank and Ira Belle Wood Burdette, and was retired with SC DOT for 35 years where he worked in Administration. He was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served during World War II. Mr. Burdette was a member of the American Legion Post 107 and past Brother Hood Director for 40 years for the Beaverdam Association. Read More	Westminster, SC – Walter Clayton Burdette, 88, husband of Christine Stephens Burdette of 511 Old Seneca Road, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012. A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Wilburn Frank and Ira Belle Wood Burdette, and was retired with SC DOT for 35 years where he worked in Administration. He was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served during World War II. Mr. Burdette was a member of the American Legion Post 107 and past Brother Hood Director for 40 years for the Beaverdam Association. He was a member of Clearmont Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon and music director and a former deacon serving at Westminster Baptist Church. He organized disaster preparation through the Beaverdam Baptist Association and volunteered during many storms and disasters. Survivors in addition to his wife, Christine, include a brother, Rayford Burdette of Westminster; sisters, Frances Davis of Walhalla, and Louise Pelfrey and Sue Collins both of Westminster. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. George Burdette, and William and James Burdette; and sisters, Annie Jordan, Ruth Dillard, Fay McClain, and Genora Owen. A funeral service will be held 2 PM, Saturday, December 8, 2012 from the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. Burial will follow Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Friday, December 7, 2012 at Sandifer Funeral Home. The family is at the residence. Flowers are optional. Source: Sandifer Funeral Home Death Notice.
