Description	:	Young, Sr., Walter E. "Wally" Walter E. "Wally" Young, Sr., age 83, died peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Arbors at New Castle, on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003. Wally was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 351, Vineland, NJ, for 59 years. He retired in 1985. Wally was born in Millville, NJ, and spent most of his life in the Vineland area. "Wally" Young, Sr., age 83, died peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Arbors at New Castle, on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003. Wally was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 351, Vineland, NJ, for 59 years. He retired in 1985. Wally was born in Millville, NJ, and spent most of his life in the Vineland area. He lived in Champaign, IL, and was a graduate of Champaign High School. He also attended the University of Illinois, where he played college football and baseball. Wally was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of WW II, serving with a convoy escort in the North Atlantic. He was torpedoed, and spent five days stranded at sea until he was rescued. He also operated a landing craft during the invasion of Sicily. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church in Vineland N.J., and St. Peter of the Apostle R.C. Church in New Castle. Wally enjoyed elk and deer hunting and was an avid card player. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Wally was preceded in death by his son, Vincent, in 1995. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Teresa (Gambacorta) Young; his son, Walter E. Young, Jr., and his wife, Giovanna, of Forest Hill, MD; his daughter, Maria (Young) Braun and her husband, Michael, of Bear; his beloved grandchildren, Michael, Nicholaus, Patrick, and Emma; and his many nieces and nephews; his brother, Robert Young, of Golden, CO; and his sister, Verna Brown of Cape May, NJ. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 5th and Harmony Sts., New Castle, on Thurs., Oct. 30, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Krienen Funeral Home, 34 West 6th Street, on Wed, eve., Oct. 29, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Interment will be at St. Peter's Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Peter's Work Force or the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 521 Harmony Street, New Castle, DE 19720.
