Funeral service for Walter Ehley, 91, of Ashley will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley. The Rev. Linda J. Schauer will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Walter Ehley, son of Mike and Johanna (Wagner) Ehley was born January 6, 1927 on the family homestead northeast of Ashley. He was baptized February 20, 1927 and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley on April 30, 1944. He attended Ashley Public School. Walter farmed with his parents, then worked at Garrison Dam and at Minot Air Force Base during the 1950’s. Walter was united in marriage to Lorraine Nulph on October 17, 1958 in Zion Lutheran Church in Minot, ND. They made their home in Minot and in 1960 they moved to Ashley. Walter worked various construction jobs around Ashley, along with farming. He had purchased the farm land from his parents. Walter loved gardening and watching the produce grow. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Grateful for having shared Walter’s life are his wife of 59 years, Lorraine; daughter, Lynnetta (Scott) Schilling of Wishek, ND and their children, Bradley, Courtney and Brittney Schilling and son, Wayne (Maren) Ehley of Linton, ND and their children, Skylar and Aspen Ehley and Bohdey Stenseth. Preceding Walter in death were his parents, three brothers, two brothers in infancy, two sisters, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. Honorary Casketbearers will be Bradley Schilling, Courtney Schilling, Brittney Schilling, Skylar Ehley, Aspen Ehley and Bohdey Stenseth. Casketbearers will be Rodney Meidinger, Paul Dutt, Rodney Hanson, Derick Jungling, Roger Hanson and Butch Jungling. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
