He lived most of his life in the Rochester commnity. On Feb. 26, 1950 in Rochester he married Louise M. EDINGTON, who survives. A Rochester fireman for 28 years, he was assistant chief from Feb. 1, 1980 through March 1, 1987. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946-48. He was a member of the former Prairie Grove EUB Church, the Rochester Eagles Lodge and American Legion and the Fulton County Fraternal Order of Police. Surviving with the wife are two daughters, Miss Connie Sue GRUBE and Mrs. Thomas (Janice) SAWYER, both of Rochester; two sons, Michael [GRUBE], Kewanna, and Jerry [GRUBE], Rochester; five grandchildren, Leah and Nathan SAWYER, and Jason and Jeremy GRUBE, all of Rochester, and Shannon GRUBE, Kewanna; the mother, Bertha, Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) ETCHISON, Kokomo, and Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) DUNLAP, Chapman Lake (near Warsaw); six brothers, Max, Rex, Carl and Paul [GRUBE], all of Rochester, and Allen and Eldon [GRUBE], Kokomo, and nieces and nephews. His father died in 1967. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster and Good Funeral Home, Rochester. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery where the American Legion and VFW will conduct military rites. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until services.
