Description	:	Walter Glen Elmore, 52, of Salem died in the flaming wreckage of his truck when it swerved off the blacktop highway one-half mile north of Salem and down an embankment Wednesday, October 28, 1964, at 9:15 p.m. He was born in Salem August 12, 1912, and was the son of Walter and Edna (Bailey) Elmore. He was a lifetime resident of Salem and a member of the Salem Friends Church. In 1930 he married Mary Lucille Hudson; and on July 14, 1956, he was married to Goldie Sinn at Oquawka, Illinois. He was survived by his wife; two sons, Wayne Elmore of West Burlington and Larry Elmore of the U.S. Navy; four daughters, Mary Lou Stewart, Margaret Triska, and Patsy Watson, all of Salem, and Miriam Francis of Burlington; his mother Edna Ponte of Salem; three brothers, Ray Elmore of Salem, Lee Guy Elmore of Oregon, Illinois, Dale Elmore of Mt. Pleasant, one sister, Mrs. Loren McDowell of Salem; two step-sons and one step-daughter; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter Beverly Lyle. Funeral services for Mr. Elmore were held Friday morning, October 30, 1964, at the Salem Friends Church with Rev. Roscoe Townsend officiating. Casket bearers were Merald Bailey, Robert Bell, Oliver Goldsmith, Wayne Haushahn, Richard Trueblood, and Donald White. Interment was in the Salem East Cemetery. Contributor: Ralph Brown (48194949)
