Description	:	Walter, or as he was known to me Uncle Walt, was an amazing and special person. He was the brother of my grandmother Violet Berry. The Berry's were a very close family. After the purchase of the ranch in Sunnydale, Wa. they were all born at home as were many of their own children until my Aunt Lynn, who was the first girl born in a hospital. Read More	Walter, or as he was known to me Uncle Walt, was an amazing and special person. He was the brother of my grandmother Violet Berry. The Berry's were a very close family. After the purchase of the ranch in Sunnydale, Wa. they were all born at home as were many of their own children until my Aunt Lynn, who was the first girl born in a hospital. I have the distinction of being the first surviving boy in my grandmother's blood line born in a hospital. Uncle Walt, or as I like to call him "an outdoor's boy's best friend," taught me many things about the outdoors and the enjoyment of it. He loved to hunt with his friends, to fish whenever he could get away from the chores of the ranch. Even work, like cutting firewood, that took him into the outdoors was an enjoyment. He taught me many things about the outdoors like how much patience it takes to catch fish, how to fall a tree in the direction you want it to go, how to set up a campsite that was as inviting as home was, and how to build a campfire that was second to none. He used to take me with him, we'd go out ahead of the rest of the family to secure a great camping site. These were treasured times. In the late 60's he painfully was forced to sell the ranch due to the expansion of Sea-Tac Airport and moved to West Seattle. (my wife and I just sold the house he built there last year after my having lived there for 25 years). He passed away just a few years after selling the ranch he loved so much. I still, to this day, own many items which belonged to him and all are priceless treasures I will never part with. Contributed by Rick Caddell
