Description	:	Walter Jennings Hosick Jr., 89, of North Platte, formerly of Central City and McCook, died Feb. 23, 2016, at Great Plains Health. Walter Jennings was born on Dec. 27, 1926, in Central City to Walter J. and Vera (Clark) Hosick. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School. Read More	Walter Jennings Hosick Jr., 89, of North Platte, formerly of Central City and McCook, died Feb. 23, 2016, at Great Plains Health. Walter Jennings was born on Dec. 27, 1926, in Central City to Walter J. and Vera (Clark) Hosick. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School. Walter served in the United States Army from June 18, 1945, to Oct. 12, 1946. He then attended the University of Nebraska, where he graduated with a master’s degree in pharmacy. Walter and Darlene Grace were united in marriage on Jan. 31, 1953, in Central City. They made their home in Central City before moving to Alma, where they opened Walt’s Drug. In 1965, they moved to McCook, where they owned and operated Walt’s Drug. Walter retired in 1988 from the drugstore and then moved to North Platte in 1990. Walter was a member of the McCook Masonic Lodge No. 135, McCook Knights Templar, North Platte Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1504 and North Platte American Legion No. 163. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; and his parents, Walter and Vera Hosick. Those left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Carol (Val) Kopke, of Adamsville, Alabama, Janet Young, of North Platte, and Nancy (Jim) Schneider, of North Platte; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home, Central City, with the Rev. Janet Burgel officiating. Burial will follow at the Central City Cemetery. Solt-Wagner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
