Walter John Grimm, 81, 895 Woodlawn, was pronounced dead on arrival at Muscatine General Hospital, after he was struck by a car driven by Josue Sanchez, 23, 415 1/2 E. Walter John Grimm, 81, 895 Woodlawn, was pronounced dead on arrival at Muscatine General Hospital, after he was struck by a car driven by Josue Sanchez, 23, 415 1/2 E. Second St., according to the Sherriff's Department report. A state report indicated Sanchez was eastbound on Muscatine County F-70 when he collided with Grimm's car, which was southbound on Highway 38. Sanchez was later air-lifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City where he was in fair condition this morning. Investigation into the accident is continuing by the sheriff's department. Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Eugene Augustine will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Mr. Grimm was born Dec. 27, 1909, in Montpelier Township, Muscatine County, a son of Dan and Katherine Soltau Grimm. He married M. Kathryn Jenkins on June 10, 1934, at Pleasant Prairie. Survivors include two sons, Kay Marvin Grimm and Daniel Grimm, both of Wilton; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Edward Grimm of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his wife on May 5, 1989, his parents, two brothers and one sister. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 167 of Wilton. He had farmed and worked at the Farm Service Company for 12 years, retiring at age 65. Then for approximately five years, he was city parking lot attendant.
