Description	:	LIFE STORY OF WALTER J. McCOY, 50 Walter J. McCoy, the son of Orren and Hattie McCoy, was born August 12, 1910 at Magnolia, Iowa. He died May 5, 1961 in Harlan, Iowa at the age of 50 years, 8 months and 23 days. In 1926 he moved to Harlan with his parents and family and completed his education. He entered the service during World War II, serving more than two years overseas in the African and European Theaters of Operation. McCoy, the son of Orren and Hattie McCoy, was born August 12, 1910 at Magnolia, Iowa. He died May 5, 1961 in Harlan, Iowa at the age of 50 years, 8 months and 23 days. In 1926 he moved to Harlan with his parents and family and completed his education. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Harlan, Iowa; five sons, Neil, in the Navy in Japan, Robert, Walter, Gary and Michael all at home; seven daughters, Marlene (Mrs. Thomas Hull of Kansas City, Missouri) Donna (Mrs. H. B. Hughes of Long Beach, California) and Betty Ann, Sheryl, Dianna, Vicki and Becky at home; two brothers, Frank of Harlan, Iowa and Wilbur of Atlantic, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Olive Pitt of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Fern Nelsen of Omaha, Nebraska and Mrs. Esther Lahr of Bellflower, California; five grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Pauley Funeral Home Tuesday, May 9, 1961 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Roy W. Pfaff officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery. Harlan V.F.W. Post No. 941 was in charge. Pallbearers were Pete Murray, Harold Baker, Bernie McCord, Fred Andersen, Grover Philson and Dyrl "Red" McCord.
