Wilcynski Walter John Wilcynski, the son of John and Victoria Gonka Wilcynski, was born at Columbus, Nebraska on February, 1, 1917. His death occurred at Houston, Texas on November 5, 1979 at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 4 days. He spent his childhood in the Columbus vicinity, where he received his education in the schools of that vicinity. On February 12, 1941 he was united in marriage to Barbara Tredway. Four children were born to them. Barbara preceded him in death on October 3, 1975. He served with the United States Army Air Force during World War Two. For a time, after his discharge, he operated a grocery store in Columbus and later was engaged in farming. In 1951, they moved to Aurora, where he has since been engaged in farming and cattle feeding. As a small child, he was baptized and later confirmed in the Catholic Faith and while residing in Aurora, was a member of the St. Mary’s parish. On August 14, 1978, he was married to Phyllis Bell at Grand Island. They have made their home in Aurora. Walt was a member of the Elks Lodge in Grand Island; the American Legion and V.F.W. Post in Aurora and the Aurora Country Club. Also, preceding him in death were his father and one brother, John. Those who remain to cherish his memory, are his mother, Victoria Wilcynski, and his in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Tredway all of Columbus. His wife, Phyllis; one son, John of Klamath Falls, Oregon; two step sons, Larry Bell of Silver Lake, Kansas and Rick Bell of Geneva, Nebraska; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Nelson of Mason City, Iowa, Mrs. Joan Pheiffer of Springfield, Virginia and Mrs. Julie Mueller of Omaha; one step daughter, Mrs. Judy Bowman of Bradshaw; two brothers, Raymond of Ralston, Nebraska and Everett of Canton, South Dakota; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Beekman of Grand Island; Mrs. Helen Kirkendall of Lincoln and Mrs. Jane Nelson of Sacramento, California; nine grandchildren and nine step grandchildren and other relatives and many close friends.
