Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Dewayne Witt officiating. Walter Junior Witt was born in Lebanon, Nebraska, on Jan. 8, 1924, the son of Walter and Mary (Tourney) Witt. He attended school in Lebanon and graduated from the Lebanon High School in 1942. He enlisted in the Army Air Force on Dec. 12, 1942, and served his country as an airplane mechanic during WWII in Burma, India. Walt was honorably discharged on Feb. 6, 1946. Walter Junior Witt married Lois Elaine Burris on April 24, 1946 at Oberlin, Decatur County, KS. They later divorced. On Oct. 31, 1966, Walt married Joyce Gartman. They lived their entire married life in Kimball. He was a member of the Kimball VFW Post #2243, a charter member of the Kimball Eagles Aerie 3889, and member of the Dix American Legion and a DAV Member. He was also a member of the Cooties Pup Tent 7, which is a VFW organization. Survivors include his wife Joyce Witt of Kimball; children Jerri Witt of San Diego, California, Carol (Calvin) Nickal of Phoenix, Arizona, Bonnie Jo (Steve) Williams of Larkspur, Colorado, Dennis (Rose Mary) Buddecke of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Kenneth (Tammy) Buddecke of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Jane Lee Young Blood of Karn, Utah, Toni (Brett) Belgum of Kimball, and Raymond Gartman of Sidney; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
