He married Phyllis Copeland on May 14, 1939 at Waukee. He was a partner in Waukee Motors and was the developer of JoLane Mobile Estates at Waukee. He was semi-retired. He was a member of the Waukee United Methodist Church, a 25-year member of the Waukee Fire Department and a member of the Waukee Lions Club. He was a former member of the Waukee City Council. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Judith Kay Smith of Glendale, Ariz. and JoAnn Marie David of West Des Moines; a son, Wendell (Bud) of Norwalk; three sisters, Madeline Duprez and Erma McKinney, both of Waukee, and Artelle Payne of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; and four grandsons.
