He was born February 18, 1927 in Surry County to the late Caleb and Girtha Wall Rogers. Mr. Rogers retired from Pilot Freight and was a fireman for many years at Westfield Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Westfield Baptist Church. Read More	WESTFIELD, NC ~ Mr. Walter Lester Rogers, age 84, of Westfield, died Monday, September 26, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Mount Airy. He was born February 18, 1927 in Surry County to the late Caleb and Girtha Wall Rogers. Mr. Rogers retired from Pilot Freight and was a fireman for many years at Westfield Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Westfield Baptist Church. He is survived by his sister: Anna Belle Rogers Johnson, Walnut Cove, NC; nieces: Sandra Rogers, Westfield, NC, Linda Wood, Walkertown, NC, Carol Neal, Walnut Cove, NC & Shirley Johnson, Pine Hall, NC; nephew: Donald Johnson, Walnut Cove, NC; four great-nieces; four great-nephews; eight great-great-nieces and five great-great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Lee Jessup Rogers; brothers, Ervin & Boyd Rogers and nephew: Charles Rogers. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Chapel conducted by Dr. Joel Stephens and Bro. Don Collins with interment to follow at Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Service of Pilot Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6713 Westfield Road, Westfield, NC 27053.
