Bovis Walter Matthew Bovis, son of George and Ellen Gavin Bovis was born in Chicago, Ill., Aug 7, 1892, and passed away in the Postville Hospital, Feb. 13, 1947, at the age of fifty-four years, six months and six days. In the year 1908 he moved with his parents to Oelwein, where he attended the Oelwein High School. In the fall of 1937, he moved to Elgin and for the last five years has been employed by the Collins Radio Co. at Cedar Rapids. On Dec. 23, 1915 he was united in marriage to Sue Elizabeth Cox of WestUnion. Three children were born to this union, Walter M. Bovis, Jr., of Guttenberg, George now in the services of the U. S. Army, and James, at home. Other survivors are one granddaughter, Mary Sue Bovis; one brother, J. Lon Bovis of Maquoketa, and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Zoia of Woodstock, Ill., and Mrs. Helen George of Wyoming, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John L. and George E.
