Description	:	Walter Swieter, loving husband and father, was born December 9, 1937, in Hampton, Iowa, to Donald Bernard and Lena (Meyer) Swieter. Walter was promoted into the presence of his Lord who he loved and faithfully served on July 24, 2013. He gathered with fellow believers at Gospel Hall in Bradford, Iowa, and Brighton, Colorado. Walter grew up farming and worked with his dad on the family farm before graduating from Geneva High School in 1956. Read More	Walter Swieter, loving husband and father, was born December 9, 1937, in Hampton, Iowa, to Donald Bernard and Lena (Meyer) Swieter. Walter was promoted into the presence of his Lord who he loved and faithfully served on July 24, 2013. He gathered with fellow believers at Gospel Hall in Bradford, Iowa, and Brighton, Colorado. Walter grew up farming and worked with his dad on the family farm before graduating from Geneva High School in 1956. He enjoyed working on the farm and continued to do so after his father's death until he moved to Colorado in 1960. He worked for John Deere at the Denver Parts Depot for 42 years as a forklift operator and really enjoyed his work. He also moonlighted for Northwest Truck Lines. After retirement, Walter was able to resume one of his passions by going back to Iowa for several years to help with harvest in the fall operating John Deere tractors and equipment. Walter enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, attending sprint car and NASCAR races, as well as attending auctions to find more John Deere tractors to restore and John Deere toys to collect. Walter also loved spending time in the mountains with his family hiking, sightseeing, and relaxing at his favorite cabins. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his son, Dwayne, crew Formula 1600, 2000, and Shelby road race series cars. One of his great joys was going to his son David's home in the country and working on tractors and building projects and spending time outside with his grandsons. He enjoyed socializing with everyone and made many friends. Walter is survived by: wife of 53 years, Caroline (Grubb) Swieter of Brighton, Colorado; sons, Dwayne Swieter of Brighton, Colorado and David (Ellen) Swieter and grandsons, Wesley and Benjamin Swieter of Keenesburg, Colorado; brother, Clarence (Bonnie) Swieter of Dumont, Iowa and a host of family and friends. Walter was preceded in death by: parents and brothers, LaVerne and Larry Swieter. Burial was in the Tilden City Cemetery, Nebraska.
