Rothmeyer, 57, of Westside, died Monday, April 30, 1984 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. He had operated a grocery store in Audubon for about a year before starting to farm south of Westside in 1954. For the past seven years he had been employed by St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 1984 at the Church of St. Ann, Vail, with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts as celebrant. Joe Schierbrock will be lector. Burial will be in the Westside cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be Johnnie Stender, John Oeser, William Lawler, Conrad Schoessler, Earl Putt and Al Dentlinger. Military graveside honors will be accorded by Alfred R. Rossman Post No. 196, American Legion, of Westside. Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. A rosary and a scriptural prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Wednesday. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Reesa on April 21, 1979; a brother, Andrew, and a sister, Martha, in infancy. Mr Rothmeyer was born February 19, 1927, at Festina, Iowa, a son of John and Lucy Mattes Rothmeyer. He attended several schools, including Dedham and Scranton, and from February of 1945 to August of 1946, served in the U.S. Navy. On June 2, 1951, he was married to Lettie Frahm at Manning. They lived in Manning for a short time, then moved to Audubon where they ran the grocery store and after disposing of that business began farming. He was a member of the Westside American Legion post, the Manning Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the Westside Community Club.
