He was born on October 12, 1926 in Addyston, Ohio the son of Michael and Annabel (Grimes) Westrich. Walt was educated in Bright Indiana and graduated from Bright High School. Read More	WESTRICH, Walter R. Age 80, a long time resident of Morgan Township passed away at Fort Hamilton Hospital Friday night February 23, 2007. He was born on October 12, 1926 in Addyston, Ohio the son of Michael and Annabel (Grimes) Westrich. Walt was educated in Bright Indiana and graduated from Bright High School. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WW II. On June 25, 1949 he married Joan Butterfield in the Okeana United Methodist Church and they have made their home in Morgan Township for 57 years. He was employed for 37 years by CG&E at the Miami Fort Power Plant as a Coal Yard Supervisor. Walt was a very family and Community oriented man as evidenced by the organizations to which he was a member. He worked with organizations in the township such as Boy Scouts, 4-H, Little League Baseball, PTA, Fire Department and Life Squad where he served as chief for four years, and former Township Trustee. Because of his service to the community the Morgan Township Community Center was named for him. Walt was a faithful member of the Okeana United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Joan Westrich and two children, Walter Neal (Vonna) Westrich and Judy (Terry) Day all of Morgan Township; four grandchildren, Justin and Kyle Day and Michael (Heather) and Jerry Hopewell; three great grandchildren Chase, Kaitlyn, and Ashton; one brother Frank Westrich of Bright, Indiana; and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Milburn, Robert, George and Michael Westrich and one sister Vella Wolfer. Funeral services will be held at Charles C. Young Funeral Home, 4032 Hamilton Cleves Road, Ross, Ohio on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with burial following in Venice Cemetery. Friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to the Okeana United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 98, Okeana, Ohio 45053.
