Lefever and Lucinda Rutter on February 3, 1895, at East Lampeter township, Lancaster county, Pa., and passed away on August 24, 1984, at Heritage of Geneva, at the age of 89 years, six months and 21 days. Read More	LEFEVER,WALTER RUTTER RUTTER—Walter Rutter Lefever was born to Amos D. Lefever and Lucinda Rutter on February 3, 1895, at East Lampeter township, Lancaster county, Pa., and passed away on August 24, 1984, at Heritage of Geneva, at the age of 89 years, six months and 21 days. He was one of four children and four half-sisters in the family. Rutter’s mother passed away when he was less than two years old. He went to make his home with his grandparents, John and Mary Lefever. He later returned to live with his father and stepmother. In a few years, Rutter went to live and work for the Berkhart family near Lancaster, Pa., and lived there until he was a young man. On September 19, 1917, Rutter was inducted into the United States Army where he served in the infantry, participating in several major battles. He was wounded in battle and at the close of World War I, he served in the army of occupation and was honorably discharged July 26, 1919. After his discharge form the Army, he came to Nebraska where he lived for several years, making his home with his brother John and family. He left Nebraska and lived in several large cities, the most recent being Chicago. He enjoyed traveling and toured the United States and Canada many times. In March, his health began to fail and he came to Geneva to make his home at Heritage of Geneva and to be near family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and four half-sisters. He is survived by nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held August 27, at Geneva public cemetery with the Rev. Charles Schepel officiating. The Nebraska Signal August 30th, 1984 page 5.
