Read More	Walter and Hannah were married in 1876, Franklin, Missouri. **************** On 30 September 1837, Walter Scott Gleason was born in Port Henry, Essex County, New York. His parents were Northrop Clark and LaVina Benjamin Gleason, who were married about 1836, either in Port Henry, Ticonderoga, or Troy, New York. Walter was the couple's only child. About June 1838, LaVina Gleason died in Port Henry, New York. Consequently, N. C. Gleason was unable to care for his infant son, so he turned him over to a couple named Hayes. He lived with them until about 1845-1846, when his father remarried and reclaimed his son. N. C. Gleason's second wife was one of his cousins, Cordelia Clark, who was born on 15 January 1823. (It is not known if she was a first, or more-distant, cousin.) They had at least three children: Emma, Herbert, and Matilda Gleason. Cordelia's father owned Port Henry's dock and boat-building works, and N. C. Gleason worked there as a boat-builder. Boatbuilding was then an important local industry. The boats built there operated on the newly opened Erie Canal. That canal took eight years (from 1817 to 1825) to build. It began on the Hudson River, at Albany, New York (which is in northern New York State, and south of Port Henry), extended 363 miles west, and ended on Lake Erie, at Buffalo, New York. In 1848, N. C. Gleason moved his family to Hingham, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. Walter Scott Gleason received the final portion of his education in Hingham. Eventually, he taught school somewhere near there. After the Civil War began, Walter enlisted in the First Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. He served in it throughout the war. When the war ended, he first returned home and then moved to Lime Springs, Iowa, where his two half-sisters, Emma and Matilda, were teaching school. For a while, he taught school there. Eventually, he relocated to Mankato, Minnesota, and then taught somewhere near it. While living in Mankato, Walter met and married a widow, Olive Linderman. She had one daughter, Clara Linderman, by her first husband. Later, the W. S. Gleason family moved to Franklin County, Missouri, where Walter taught school again. Olive Gleason died there. It is not known if they had any children. While living in Missouri, Walter met and married Hannah Jane Hudspeth. She was the daughter of David and Julia Ann Bacon Hudspeth, who were married on 11 November 1875/1876, in St Louis County, Missouri. Sometime later, Walter and Hannah moved to Morris County, Kansas. They had six children there: Northrop Clark (1877), Joseph Herbert (1878), David Albert (1891), Adele, Emma Matilda, and LaVina Gleason. On 19 March 1920, W. S. Gleason died in Morris County, Kansas. On 29 December 1934, Hannah Gleason died there. They both were interred in the Greenwood Cemetery, in Council Grove, Kansas. Information from: David Aspelin Contributor #47668150. ****************
