Walter Segriff Maxwell, son of Ida Segriff and Everett Brenton Maxwell was born March 14, 1895 and passed away at Murphy Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, on July 4, 1967, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Florence Burley, January 14, 1920, at the home of her parents. To this union were born two sons Jay of Alamosa, Colorado, and Gerald of Nodaway; twin daughters, Mrs. Victor (Joan) Blume of Clarinda and Mrs. Cecil (Jean) Schaffer of Red Oak. He farmed until five years ago when failing health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Veterans of World War I, and the American Legion. He is also survived by a sister, Ruby Bell of Longmont Colorado, and eleven grandchildren. They include: Gregory Maxwell of Denver, Colorado; Jimmy Maxwell of Alamosa, Colorado; Dennis Maxwell, Douglas Maxwell and Dallas Maxwell all of Nodaway; Gary Blume, Vicki Blume, Rodney Blume and Curtis Blume, all of Clarinda; Norma Jean Schaffer, and Steven Schaffer both of Red Oak. Also two daughters-in-law survive. They are Susie Grace Maxwell and Reba Maxwell, two sons-in-law Victor Blume and Cecil Schaffer.
