Description	:	The following was contributed by Paula (#47185440) Clarence, Shelby, Missouri 1949 Walter T. Wood, 79, died Thursday at his home in Clarence after being in ill health for several years. Son of Hugh and Melcenia Wood, he was born in Macon county on Nov. 7, 1870. In February of 1900 he was married to Miss Claud Smith who died leaving an infant son, Walter Thomas. Son of Hugh and Melcenia Wood, he was born in Macon county on Nov. 7, 1870. In February of 1900 he was married to Miss Claud Smith who died leaving an infant son, Walter Thomas. On Sept. 16, 1903 he and Miss Martha Mobley were united in marriage. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Kay Tisue of Clarence, Mrs. Chester Hollenbeck of Glascow and Herndon of Kansas City. Surviving besides his wife and children are: five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Walter O'Bryan; two brothers, Willie ( a twin brother) and Arthur of Spokane, Wash. Mr. Wood owned and operated a farm near Enterprise until six years ago when he moved to Clarence. In early manhood he united with the Christian church at Union where he was an active member, serving as deacon for a period of years. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Union church with Rev. Elba Martin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
