Description	:	BRAZIL MAN IS KILLED BY TRAIN Walter Werner, 39 years old, of Brazil, died Friday night in Union Hospital from injuries received when he was struck by a train earlier in the day. According to crewman on a Pennsylvania Railroad freight train, they saw Werner sitting on the tracks near the Forest avenue viaduct at 10:30 a.m. Friday. Read More	BRAZIL MAN IS KILLED BY TRAIN Walter Werner, 39 years old, of Brazil, died Friday night in Union Hospital from injuries received when he was struck by a train earlier in the day. According to crewman on a Pennsylvania Railroad freight train, they saw Werner sitting on the tracks near the Forest avenue viaduct at 10:30 a.m. Friday. They told police the victim did not respond to the whistle and that the train was not able to stop in time after it became apparent he did not intend to move from the tracks. A Lawson ambulance took him to the Clay County Hospital at Brazil, but he was moved to the Terre Haute hospital later in the day. Death was attributed to head injuries. He also had compound fractures to the left arm and hip. Police said Werner had no steady source of income but worked at odd jobs in Brazil. A couple weeks ago he was registered at the Earle hotel. According to police he had recently been released from the Indiana Penal Farm after serving a term for intoxication. His survivors include his mother, Mrs. Hermina Werner of Reynolds; two sons, Mickey and Eddie Werner, both of Monticello; a brother, Raymond Werner of Reynolds, and a sister, Charlotte Reynolds of Reynolds. The body was taken to Smith and Aufenberg Funeral Home in Monticello where arrangements will be announced. Published in The Terre Haute Tribune, (Terre Haute, IN), on Saturday, July 27, 1957, pg. 5.
