He attended the Whippoorwill Country Schools. On September 22, 1940, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Jordan at the Carlton Brethren Church at rural Garwin; Tama County, Iowa. Walter farmed and later retired from Fisher Governor and had also been a part-time groundskeeper at Elmwood Country Club. Judge was born on Wednesday; October 9, 1912 in Indian Township, Tama County, Iowa. He was the son of: Samuel S. and Elva (Richards) Judge. He attended the Whippoorwill Country Schools. On September 22, 1940, he was united in marriage to Mary M. Jordan at the Carlton Brethren Church at rural Garwin; Tama County, Iowa. Walter farmed and later retired from Fisher Governor and had also been a part-time groundskeeper at Elmwood Country Club. He will be fondly remembered for his quiet kindness - always willing to help others. He enjoyed playing violin, yard work, woodworking, dancing, and all kinds of music. He often shared stories of his youth which included riding his pony to school, visiting neighbors and family with a bobsled in the wintertime and farming with teams of horses. Walter W. Judge, age: 98, passed away at the Saturday morning, January 15, 2011 at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa while in their care and that of Care initiatives Hospice. Those left to mourn his passing are: His daughters: Barbara L. Long of Waukee; Dallas County, Iowa; Nancy ((Denny)Lanning of Melbourne; Marshall County, Iowa and Sherry Eggers of Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa; his grandchildren: Jeffrey T. (Annette) Lanning, Jerry D. (Laure) Lanning, Christine Long, Michael (Anne) Long and Cindy (Kevin) Partlow and his great-grandchildren: Julie, Nick and Megan Lanning, Candice, Charles and Melanie Long; Jack, Emily and Travis Partlow; his brothers: Richard Judge of the Bickford Cottage in Marshalltown, Iowa and Virgil Judge of rural Garwin, Iowa; his sister: Bertha DeFrance in Davenport; Scott County, Iowa; also nieces, nephews and a host of many friends. In death, Walter rejoined his beloved wife: Mary; his son Robert W. Judge; sister: Gertrude Kerr and brothers: Lawrence, Lewis and Henry. May they rest in peace. May God bless his memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the services on Tuesday; January 17, 2011 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday; January 18, 2011 also at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Interment will be at the Rosll Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa.
