Shephard, son of Alfred Roberts Shephard and Maria Morrison (Page) Shephard, was born May 1, 1876 at Enterprise, Kan., in Dickinson County, and departed this life Sept. 18, 1964 in Superior, Wis., at the age of 88 years, 4 months nad 18 days. Since the death of his wife he made his home with his daughter Dorothy Irene. He ws the oldest son in a family of two. Preceding him in death was his brother Jesse Leroy. He was united in marriage to Nellie Maud Lacy, Dec. 29, 1904. Six children were born to this union. He leaves to mourn his departure four daughters and two sons, Ruth Krause of Stafford, Mo.; Ralph of Delta, Colo., Marie Denker of Pomona, Kan., Irene Mackie of Maple, Wisc., Almo Strunk and Kenneth of Abilene, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held at the Danner Funeral home on Monday, Sept. 21, 1964 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. John Kellison officiating. Music was provided by John Bebermeyer who sand "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Behond the Sunset." Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Rano Krause, Joe Drause, Gene Leckron, Lester Leckron, Dennis Shephard and Harry Sprinkel. September 18, 1964 wife: Nellie Maud Lacy WALTER W. SHEPHARD Walter W. Shephard, 88, a former Abilene resident, died late Thursday night in a Superior, Wis., hospital. Mr. Shephard was born in Abilene May 1, 1876, and left here about 20 years ago. He was a retired carpenter. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs.. Fred Krause of Stafford, Mo., Mrs. George Denker of Pomona; Mrs. Alex Hautenackle of Superior, Wis., and Mrs Alvin Strunk of Abilene; two sons, Kenneth Shephard of Abilene and Ralph Shephard of Delta, Colo., and other relatives. The body will be brought to Abilene for funeral services and burial and announcements will be made later from the Danner Funeral home.
