Description	:	CENTER STRAFFORD — Walton A Stiles, 92, died at his home on March 14, 2010, following a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Center Strafford, born on May 18, 1917, to Wilbur and Iness (Scruton) Stiles. Walton graduated from Austin-Cate Academy in 1935, and joined the family dairy business with his father and brother. He remained active on the farm until three years ago. He was on the board of directors of the... Read More	CENTER STRAFFORD — Walton A Stiles, 92, died at his home on March 14, 2010, following a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Center Strafford, born on May 18, 1917, to Wilbur and Iness (Scruton) Stiles. Walton graduated from Austin-Cate Academy in 1935, and joined the family dairy business with his father and brother. He remained active on the farm until three years ago. Walton was a member of both the Strafford County Farm Bureau and the New Hampshire Farm Bureau Federation, serving on many committees and holding many offices. He was on the board of directors of the Merrimack Farmers Exchange and served as president for over 15 years. He was a member of the Grange for over 60 years. Mr. Stiles was a member of the Third Baptist Church where he served on many committees, was a trustee and sang in the choir. Walton was an organizer of the Strafford Volunteer Fire Department, its first president and long time chief. He also served as superintendent of the Center Strafford Cemetery from 1960-1994. Walton was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Ellen "Betty" Stiles, his brother Harold Stiles and his sister Iva Stiles. He is survived by his daughter Gail Barry and husband Michael; grandsons Shawn Barry and wife Caryn, Scott Barry and wife Tania; five great-grand children Marissa, Paige, Alison, Rylee and Kody; his nephew Calvin Stiles and wife Corinne, all of Center Strafford. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Third Baptist Church Strafford Road, Strafford, N.H. Burial will be in the Center Strafford Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
