Description	:	Wanda Walker, 78, of Floris, Iowa passed away December 1, 2016 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born May 30, 1938 in Davis County, Iowa to O.D. “Pete” and Bernice Alice Fountain Archer. She married Larry Joe Walker on March 29, 1959 at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church. Wanda graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1956 and went to nursing school at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa. She was born May 30, 1938 in Davis County, Iowa to O.D. “Pete” and Bernice Alice Fountain Archer. She married Larry Joe Walker on March 29, 1959 at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church. Wanda graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1956 and went to nursing school at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa. She worked as an RN for Dr. Fenton, Dr. Conn, and as the night supervisor in the ER at the Davis County Hospital. After she retired from nursing, she opened the restaurant “Auntie Granny’s” which was located on the north side of the square in Bloomfield. Wanda was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow Girls, Rebekah Lodge #1 in Bloomfield, and participated in several card clubs over the years. Her absolute favorite hobby was baking and decorating birthday and wedding cakes. It was a hoby that she excelled at and kept her very busy. She is survived by her husband, Larry Walker of Floris; ten nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her as their “Other Mother,” Brenda (Kevin) Jarvis of Ottumwa, Doug (Dawn) Wintermote, Kenny Roulet, Paula (Tony) Houston, Dana (Barry) Day all of Bloomfield, Iowa; Jeff (Crystal) Foster of Port Byron, Illinois, Mike Foster, Theresa Foster, Patty Foster all of Des Moines, Laura (Rob) Strovers of Indianola, Iowa; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Schumaker; niece, Rhonda Roulet; and a great-nephew, Joshua Jarvis. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Heath Jarvis officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to the Bloomfield Care Center.
