Description	:	Services for Wanda C. Gravatt, 98, who died Oct. 19, were held Monday morning at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home. Dr. Worthie Usher officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Bearers were Gilbert Blue, Wendell Haupert, Corwin Springer, Orville Grimes, Delos Edwards and Herb Amey. Groups attending included PEO sisterhood, Tuesday Musical Club, ,First United Methodist Church Women, and Twentieth Century Club. Mrs. Gravatt was born April 29, 1892, in Albion to Perry and Cora Dill Amey. She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1912 and Iowa State Teachers College in 1917. She married Howard Gravatt in 1921; he preceded her in death in 1959. She was a music teacher in rural schools for three years and the Traer School District for four years. She had been a resident of Grandview Heights since 1987. Mrs. Gravatt had been a member of the First United Methodist Church, Deborah Circle, Tuesday Musical Club, PEO Chapter JU, the Board of Visiting Nurses Association, Marshall County Oratoria Society, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was also choir director of the First United Methodist Church for 27 years, was past president and board member of the 20th Century Club, was past director of the Board of Education of the Marshalltown School District and was director of the Marshall County Farm Bureau Women's Chorus. She was also on the Upper Iowa University Board of Trustees and director of the Deaconess Hospital Nurses Chorus. Mrs. Gravatt is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Ted) Anderson of Charles City; a son, Paul Gravatt, Edison, N.J.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Max Amey of California.
