Description	:	The Brooklyn (IA) Chronicle July 16, 1964 Following a brief illness, a blood disorder claimed the life of Mrs. Gerald Read, 33, mother of five young children, last Saturday evening at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Mrs. Read had undergone major surgery in April from which she had not fully recovered, however her condition had not been considered serious. She was taken to the Des Moines hospital last Tuesday. Interment was in the Brooklyn I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Wanda Jane Read was born Feb. 20, 1931, at Burlington, the daughter of E. Herbert and Mabel Jackson. The following year she came with her family to Grinnell where she was graduated from Grinnell High School. On January 23, 1954, she was married to Gerald Read of Brooklyn at the Baptist parsonage in Grinnell. The couple farmed northwest of Brooklyn. Mrs. Read is survived by her husband and five children, Debra 8, Rhonda 6, Brian 5, Calvin 2 and Loren, 10 months. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. E.
