Description	:	Wanda J. Cruise, 82, of Holdrege died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Wanda was born June 19, 1929, in Sterling, Colo., to Delbert and Lora (Fellows) Simmerman. On Feb. 6, 1949, she married Dean Cruise southwest of Elm Creek. He died in March 2005. Read More	Wanda J. Cruise, 82, of Holdrege died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Wanda was born June 19, 1929, in Sterling, Colo., to Delbert and Lora (Fellows) Simmerman. On Feb. 6, 1949, she married Dean Cruise southwest of Elm Creek. He died in March 2005. Survivors are: sons, Robert and his wife, Debra, of Lincoln, Russell and his wife, Nancy, of Loomis and Richard and his wife, Rosemary, of Chandler, Ariz.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne and Harlan and his wife, Kay, all of Elm Creek, and Dick and his wife, Myrtle, of Overton; sisters, Wilma Jean Keep of Ogallala and Ardis Refior of Elm Creek; and brother-in-law, Dale Cruise and his wife, Helen, of Salem, Ore. Wanda was the second of six children in her family. Her early years were spent in Sterling, but later her family moved to a farm in the Elm Creek area. She attended Elm Creek High School, where she met Dean Cruise. They were married at Dean's parents' farm southwest of Elm Creek. They farmed southwest of Elm Creek for many years. They farmed until 1968 at which time Dean and the family moved to Loomis to begin an electrical and construction business. Later, Dean slowed down and ran a lawn sprinkler company until his retirement in 2001. They moved from Loomis to Kearney in November 2004 only briefly as Dean became ill and died in March 2005. She then moved back to the Holdrege area until she entered the nursing home in 2010. She will forever be remembered for her wonderful baked goods and pumpkin pies. Wanda was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, Loomis United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church in Holdrege. She also served on the board at Holdrege Memorial Homes. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, W.F. Keep and Donald Refior; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Simmerman. Interment was in the Williamsburg Cemetery, Williamsburg Township, NE. Published in Kearney Hub on October 25, 2011
