Description	:	Warren D. "Bud" Gilligan, son of Thomas and Helen (Cliffton) Gilligan, was born November 24, 1924 in Estelline, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education in Estelline, graduating from Estelline High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.During World War II. Read More	Warren D. "Bud" Gilligan, son of Thomas and Helen (Cliffton) Gilligan, was born November 24, 1924 in Estelline, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education in Estelline, graduating from Estelline High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946.During World War II. Bud served in the European Theatre with the 22nd and 2nd Armored Forces. He was united in marriage to Joyce Moeller on December 17, 1947 in Estelline and then recalled to serve in the Army from 1950 to 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Bronze Star and other campaign medals for his service. They lived in various cities in South Dakota, including Estelline, Aberdeen, Watertown and Rapid City. During those years he was employed as a mechanic, trucker and also worked for the Teamsters Union from 1956 to 1959. In 1964 they moved to Dearborn, Michigan where he worked as a millwright in the construction industry. He retired in 1987 and they moved to Toronto, South Dakota before moving to Estelline in 1995. Warren died on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 8 days. He was a member of the Estelline American Legion. Bud's service to his country and devotion to the United States flag were sacred and important to him. He was also a member of the millwrights union and enjoyed trap shooting. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Joyce of Estelline; four son, Michael Gilligan and his wife Brenda of College Station, TX, Daniel Gilligan and Steven Gilligan and his wife Joan, all of Howell, MI, Terry Gilligan and his wife Barb of Livonia, MI; two daughters, Kathy Stanley of Copemish, MI, Linda Zoltowski and her husband Tony of Cleveland, OH; 10 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Pat Gilligan (Joan) of Estelline; one sister, Jean Gilligan of Alexandria, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Harvey; his mother and father-in-law, Theodore and Elsie Moeller; and four brothers-in-law, Alan, Marvin, Lawrence and Bernard Moeller Memorial Service Friday, October 5, 2007 St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Estelline, South Dakota Fr.
