Heminger, Sr., age 81, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 2, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Ben Foulk officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Mr. Heminger passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehab. Center. He was born June 6, 1930 in Newcomerstown, Ohio to the late Orrel A. and Anna Mae (Kenney) Heminger. Mr. Heminger was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as a machinist from Rockwell. He had also been employed with Peterson Buick and Ron Klein Buick and owned and operated his own business, Heminger Service. Mr. Heminger enjoyed track and drag racing, building most of his own cars which he raced at Hyde Park. He loved NASCAR. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a hero to his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma L. (Meadows) Heminger; sons, Warren D. (Marilyn) Heminger, Jr. and John S. (Lori) Heminger, all of Newark; daughters, Marsha K. (James) Shipley, Anna M. Heminger and Brenda L. (Mark) Metelko, all of Newark; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and devoted friend, Tom Lawrence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Raymond Kenney. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, at the funeral home, 59 North Fifth Street, Newark.
