He served as Mess Sgt. in the U.S. Army in North Africa during World War II. Upon his return, he worked briefly in the dairy industry, then operated the Sunoco gas station in Lancaster, N.H. In 1948 he married Margaret Laura (LaChance) Sysling, daughter of Antonio LaChance and Beulah Hazen. She was divorced from Joseph Sysling. They had a son, Julian Richard, in 1950. They divorced shortly after and Margaret remarried in 1957. He next married Pearle Silver (Bedell) Clement, daughter of Edward A. Bedell and Doris Arlene Silver. She was divorced from Joseph Baxter Clement. They had a daughter, Lenore. Pearle died in 1983 in a Vermont hospital but they were residents of Jefferson, NH. On May 28, 1984 in Randolph, VT Warren and Margaret remarried. She was widowed from Kenneth Sterling Lewis in 1973. Warren and Margaret divorced again on Aug 25, 1993. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Royalton where he served as pastor from September 1995 to July 2006, and was a deacon for the church from June 2006 to January 2007. He was Pastor Emeritus of St. James Methodist Church in Proctorsville. He was a member of the Independent order of Odd Fellows. He joined the Mt. Jefferson (N.H.) IOOF Lodge #103 in 1958. He was Grand Master for the New Hampshire Grand Lodge from 1973 to 1974, and received the Meritorious Service Award from the New Hampshire Grand Lodge in 2002. He held many positions within the Odd Fellows, including Grand Treasurer for the Grand Lodge of Vermont; served three terms as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Vermont; and served as Grand Representative to the Sovereign Grand Lodge at the national level. He had been serving as Trustee of the Gill Odd Fellows Home and Retirement Apartment Complex until his death. He was chef at Camp NEOFA in Maine for several years. He was a former member of Ideal Rebekah Lodge #70 in South Royalton, and a member of Myrtle Lodge in Proctor. He found time for civic service as chief of police and selectboard member in his hometown of Jefferson. He worked with the Stagecoach in Randolph as safety officer, and as a member of the board. He was a member of the Grange in East Bethel and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping in his earlier years. Survivors include his daughter, Lenore and her husband David Snell of Dillsboro, N.C.; his son Julian and his wife Lori Gorman of Bethel; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
