Warren was born November 10, 1925 in Arlington, Nebraska to Samuel and Myrtle (Bryce) Hammang. He grew up at Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School. Hammang, 91 years, of Fremont, Nebraska died Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. Warren was born November 10, 1925 in Arlington, Nebraska to Samuel and Myrtle (Bryce) Hammang. He grew up at Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II serving from May 13, 1944 to May 14, 1946 as a radio operator on a B-29 bomber. He returned to Arlington, then moved to California for one year, to Pakistan for two years, the Persian Gulf for one year, South America, Costa Rica and Australia while working as Field Manager for United Geophysical Company in Oil Exploration, retiring in 1962. Warren married Maria T. Bolanos Canino on May 11, 1961 at Las Palmas, Canary Islands. He then went on to work for Consolidated Blenders in Arlington and Hunt Transportation in Valley, Nebraska retiring in 1987. They lived at Arlington until 1990 and then moved to Fremont. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont and the Arlington V.F.W. Warren enjoyed spending time attending antique tractor/threshing shows, tinkering in the shop on the farm and using scrap iron and spare parts to create his own inventions that rarely broke. Most important to Warren was his family; especially his grandsons, Evan and Luke. He loved attending their activities and making the Fourth of July special, and passing on his machining wisdom and his awesome World War II stories. He is survived by his wife, Maria of Fremont; son, Albert and wife, Angela Hammang of Arlington; and grandchildren, Evan and Luke Hammang. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Sammy Hammang; brothers, Art, Burt and Joe Hammang; and sisters, Loretta Miller, Genevieve Hammang, and Etta Bell Davis. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont, Nebraska. The Rev. Father James de Anda will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends will be Tuesday, from 5 PM to 8 PM with a rosary at 7 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with Military Honors will be at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or St. Paul’s Lutheran School at Arlington."
