Smith, son of Emanuel and Sarah Smith, was born at Woodville, Ohio on February 7, 1870, and passed away at his home in Clearwater on Sunday, June 10, 1951, having reached the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 3 days. Smith, son of Emanuel and Sarah Smith, was born at Woodville, Ohio on February 7, 1870, and passed away at his home in Clearwater on Sunday, June 10, 1951, having reached the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 3 days. In his early years he came with his parents to Saunders County where he received his schooling and grew to manhood. In 1895 he was united in marriage with Birdie Wollen at Wahoo, Nebraska. They established their home on a farm near Ceresco. Two children blessed this union, a son, Warren Alva, and a daughter, Inez Beryl. In 1963, the family came to Antelope County and established their home on a farm north of Clearwater. Antelope County was Mr. Smith's home the remaining years of his life with the exception of about two years that were spent at Fremont. His wife, Birdie, passed away in October, 1927. On March 19, 1930, Mr. Smith was united in marriage with Mrs. Hattie Craig of Neligh, at Lyons. They resided on Mr. Smith's farm until failing health and the infirmities of advancing years necessitated retirement from such active labor. Mr. and Mrs. Smith moved to Clearwater in 1945, where he lived until his death. In 1916, Mr. Smith began the practice of veterinary medicine. In the course of practicing his profession, and throughout Antelope and eastern part of Wheeler and Holt Counties, he made a host of acquaintances and friends. Mr. Smith was baptized and received July 1946 into the Reorganized Church of The Latter Day Saints by Elder Loving. In March of 1949, the deceased suffered a paralytic stroke. A great part of the last years of his life he has been bed fast, having been cared for by his faithful wife. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a faithful friend and worthwhile neighbor. He was a familiar figure on the streets of Clearwater until his failing health confined him to his home. Those who mourn his passing are his wife Hattie, a son Warren Alva of Clearwater, a daughter, Mrs. Inez Lucas of Los Gatos, California; two foster daughters, Mrs. Waunita Ellsberry of Stapleton, and Mrs. Ester Nissen of Dewey, Oklahoma; two foster sons, Ray G. Craig of Grand Island and Mervin Craig of Ontario, Oregon. Also, among the survivors are 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry G. Smith of Naper; and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Bricker of Wichita and Mrs. Mary McRae of St Louis. Missouri. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers; John of Ashland, William of Patroni, and one that died in infancy; also, a sister, Mrs. Ella Billings of Omaha; and a foster son, Ralph Craig. Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Reorganized Latter Day Saints Church, with Elder Reed of Clearwater in charge. Singers were Mrs. Florence Russell and Miss Ellen Lambert with Mrs. Max Hemingway at the piano. Pallbearers were Clyde Payne, Lawrence Rutledge, Wills Hague, Earl Flowers, Charles Soderstein and L.D.
