To this union were born ten children, three of whom died in infancy, and Melisa A. who died in 1907. Those left to mourn his death are John J. of Ashfork, Ariz. Wesley W. Jr., of Lusk, Wyo. George M. Wheeler and Mrs. Hattie Galligan both of Ainsworth, Thomas of Ilinois and Eunice I. Hitch of Long Pine. Mr. Wheeler was a pioneer of this county, locating on the South side of the Niobrara river some 30 years ago, making that his home until 3 years ago when his health failed him and he retired to Oakdale, Nebr., where he has since resided. The funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. M.L. Drake of Oakdale. The last rites were held at the cemetery at Buffalo Flats, Rev. G.L. Shull officiating. Oakdale Sentinel 6 Feb 1920 W.W. Wheeler, Sr., Passes Away Following an illness of several weeks W.W. Wheeler, Sr., died Monday of this week at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. M.L. Drake. Brief funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A.B. Small, and the remains were taken to Long Pine for burial. Washington Wesley Wheeler was born in Wabash county, Illinois, January 26, 1880. He resided in Illinois, in the vicinity of his birthplace, for fifty-five years. He was united in marriage to Mary Powell on February 4, 1858, and to them were born ten children, three daughters and a son having gone before. In 1885 Mr. Wheeler removed to Nebraska and located on a homestead a short distance north of Long Pine. Here he made his home until about five years ago, when he came to Oakdale. Mrs. Wheeler died March 12, 1905, and he later married Rosa McCoy, now deceased. The children who survive are: J.J. Wheeler of Ash Forks, Arizona; W.W. Wheeler of Oakdale; George of Ainsworth; Thomas of Illinois; Mrs. Hattie Galligan of Ainsworth; Mrs. Eunice Hitch of Long Pine.
