She attained the age of 82 years, ten months and nine days. Pallbearers were Trevor Janssen, Nick Phillips, Rick Reed, Tyler Abraham, Chad Olinger, Ray Ellefson, and Pat Starr. Internment was held in the Lennox Cemetery. Wava Marie Starr was born March 24, 1922 on a farm near Rock Valley, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert and Anna (Bowman) Starr. She moved to Fairview, South Dakota with her family where she attended Fairview Public School. Wava was united in marriage to Hans Janssen on Feb. 8, 1950 at Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in the Hudson/Beresford area. Her husband died on Dec. 22, 1979. She moved to Lennox in 1987 and more recently had been a resident of Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls. Besides her parents and her husband, Hans, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of the Delbert and Anna Starr family. Grateful for having shared her life are her five children: Beryl McKenna and his wife, Connie, of Bothel, Washington, Brenda Jones of Sioux Falls, Glenda Olinger and her husband, Chuck, of Lennox, Glen Janssen and his wife, Cheryl, of Beresford and Ranae Abraham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
