One of the victims was Wayne Weaver, sixteen years old and son of the late Harry Weaver. Details of the fire had not been learned by the relatives. Wayne had been working on a farm which the house occupied and the adjoining barn was also consumed in the blaze. The deceased leaves to mourn his mother and two brothers, Harry and Ralph all of Alliance, Nebr. and one sister, Mrs. Lucille McCormick of Valentine, Nebr., besides many other relatives. The remains were brought to Center on Friday and funeral services were held on Saturday morning at 10:30 with Rev. Klopp officiating. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery beside his father. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow. ==================== ***A second article in the same newspaper Funeral services for Wayne Weaver, 16, son of Mrs. Harry Weaver, where held at the Center Congregational church Saturday morning at 10:30, the pastor, the Rev. Ward K. Klopp, Plainview, officiating. Burial was in Creighton. The youth was burned to death in a ranch shack near Mission, S.D. Wednesday night. also burned was his employer, Harry Harper, 24, recently of near Randolph. The fire was a strange one. Its origin is unknown and it burned the building interior and its two occupants, yet was standing, apparently intact, when a neighbor who had noticed smoke, arrived Thursday morning. He opened the door of a lean-to, a dog ran out and then, he opened the shack door. The instant he let outside air into the structure it burst into a mass of flame and he backed away from it just in time. The body of young Weaver was found just inside the door, indicating he had made an effort to escape. Harper's body was on the bed. Wayne Weaver was born east of Niobrara June 1, 1918. His parents lived there for a time, then moved to near Brunswick and subsequently to near Mission, S.D. He had been attending high school in Valentine the past year, staying at the home of a sister there and had just gone to the ranch to work for Harper. Young Harper's father had been at the place and left only the day before to go to Wayne to attend graduation exercises for a member of the family being in the class. His death is the third in the family in a comparatively short period. About eight months ago, his grandmother, Mrs. Laura Weaver, passed away. Last November, his father, Harry Weaver, died. Those from out of town here to the funeral included; C.W. and Ralph Stieful of Hartington, S.D., father and brother of the boy's mother, Mr. and Mrs. Walter McCormick of Valentine, brother-in-law and sister of the deceased; Mrs. Harry Weaver and two sons, mother and brothers of the boy and Mrs. Ralph Coder of Alliance; Everett and Miss Martha Weaver of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weaver, McLean.
