Description	:	These very old little markers along the bluff in Section 8 of Riverside Cemetery tell a series of sad stories. Wayne Eige was buried in Section 8 Lot 234. Wayne died on December 18, 1911 of complications from diphtheria. He was 3 years old if you believe the burial order in cemetery files, or 3 months old if you believe the newspaper story. Wayne's parents, John B. and Lizzie Eige, had a premature/stillborn son in 1914 who was buried right next to his brother Wayne. A tree is engulfing his little marker now. Wayne Eige was buried in Section 8 Lot 234. Wayne died on December 18, 1911 of complications from diphtheria. He was 3 years old if you believe the burial order in cemetery files, or 3 months old if you believe the newspaper story. Wayne's parents, John B. and Lizzie Eige, had a premature/stillborn son in 1914 who was buried right next to his brother Wayne. A tree is engulfing his little marker now. Then, John and Lizzie had another son, also named John, who died in 1917 of pneumonia at about 3 months old. He was also buried in Section 8, but is not next to his brothers. The Eige family also had a daughter, Betty Louise, who died of whooping cough at about 11 months old in 1924. She was buried in the Fairview section of the cemetery. Imagine losing four small children in 13 years, and 3 of them died of illnesses that can now be minimized or prevented with immunizations. It does appear that the Eiges had at least two sons who lived to adulthood and are buried in their own family plots at Riverside. John and Lizzie are not buried at Riverside.
