Read More	Wayne "Toots" Gerold West, son of Gerold Leslie West and Eula Genevieve Hall West was born April 1, 1937 in Wayne County, Iowa and passed from this life Monday, March 3, 2014 at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 76 years of age. Wayne grew up in the Van Wert area. He graduated from Van Wert High School in 1954. He entered the U.S. Army on June 15, 1960. Wayne was united in marriage to Ida Baker West on August 27, 1960 at Des Moines, IA and two children blessed this union. Wayne had a strong work ethic. He was a farmer, starting out with his father and then later farming with his father-in-law and son, Mick. He worked hard to provide for his family and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed going to the Weldon Corner for coffee and to visit. He and Ida enjoyed dancing to country music, playing cards with friends and Wayne enjoyed playing pool. His family all agreed he had a big sweet tooth. Wayne enjoyed life and was always in on the fun times, watching the grandkids ride the rides on the Fourth of July, participating in the yearly family Easter egg hunt and helping blow out the grandkids birthday candles. "Toots" as many knew him, had a sparkle in his eye when he smiled which revealed that perfect amount of orneriness that he held within. Those relatives who preceded Wayne in death were his parents, Gerold and Eula West; brothers, Sam, Wendell, and Marion West; father-in-law Dennis Baker; nephew, Bradley West; and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Left to cherish Wayne's memory is his wife, Ida West of Osceola, IA; daughter, Lorie (Scott) Kent of Osceola; son, Mickey West of Weldon; grandchildren, Austin, Dannelle and Julie West, Augustus Sherry and Timber Kent; mother-in-law, Marjorie Baker; as well as other relatives and many friends.
