Read More	•~★~• Wayne Leo Otto •~★~• (February 03, 1924 ~ July 02, 2004) 3 February 1924 – 2 July 2004 ~~✟~~ Wayne Otto CHEROKEE - Wayne Otto, 80 of Cherokee, was dead on arrival at 2 am, Friday, July 2, 2004 at the Mt. Carmel Medical Center emergency room following a short illness. He was born Feb. 3, 1924 in Arroll, Mo., the son of Clyde A. and Myrtle M. Watson Otto. He had been a resident of Cherokee since 1936. Mr. Otto attended schools in Arroll, Pierce, Mo., and Norfork, Neb., Pittsburg, Weir and Cherokee. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army. He married Theresa Masterson on Feb. 2, 1947 in Scammon. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1984. Mr. Otto had been sexton of Mt. Olive Cemetery, a feed salesman for Mooreman Feeds and Purina Feeds; superintendent of the Cherokee Cemetery; supervisor at Crane Company in Miami, Okla.; had worked in the aircraft industry at most of the major aircraft plants as a quality control officer and, following his retirement, he was the water supervisor for the City of Cherokee. He was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Scammon, was a member of the former St. Anastasia's Catholic Church in Cherokee until its closing, the Priestly Ridley American Legion Post No. 35 in Cherokee, the Cherokee Ruritan Club, the Sullivan Cronin 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 3316 in Scammon, the Commodore Barry General Assembly Council No. 0294 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Pittsburg, and was the vice-president of the Bone Creek Association and was a charter member. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ellen Otto of the home; one son, Thomas James Otto of Cherokee; three brothers, Carl A. Otto of Cherokee; Walter J. Otto of Wantagh, N.Y.; and William Otto of Peculiar, Mo.; one sister Aleatha May of Belton, Mo.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Conard C. Otto. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church with Father Chrysostom Ah Maung as celebrant. The lector for the mass will be Ross Grasso. Burial will be in the Cherokee City Cemetery. The Priestly Ridley American Legion Post No. 35 will conduct flag folding ceremonies at the graveside. The Knights of Columbus and Parish rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir. The family will receive their friends after the rosary service until 8 p.m. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Weir.
