Read More	Mapleton Press 11 August 1977 Services Held For Wayne Allemang Wayne LeRoy Allemang, son of W P. Petersen and Pearl (Armstrong) Petersen, was born on September 24, 1918 at Oto, Iowa. He died at his home August 3, 1977 at Eugene, Oregon, having reached the age of 58 years, 10 months and 12 days. As a young boy he lived with his parents on a farm. On June 4, 1941 he married Arlean Andresen at Rockwell, Mo. and one daughter and two sons were born. He and his wife lived at Oto, Sioux City, Iowa and Mount Pleasant and Guthrie Center before moving to Eugene, Oregon 12 years ago. He had been employed as a construction worker and was employed by a Eugene Irrigation Company at the time of his death. He was a member of the Eagle Lodge 275 of Eugene and had been chaplain of the lodge for several years. He was also a member of the Independent Order of Foresters, and was Vice King in the Nesters. He graduated from the Oto High School in 1936. Services were held in Eugene, Oregon in the Chapel Memories Funeral Home on Friday, August 5, 1977 with the Eugene Eagle Lodge 275 officiating. Services were held on Monday, August 8, 1977 at 10:00 a. m. at the Walter Chapel in Mapleton, Iowa with Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating. Burial was in the Smithland Cemetery at Smithland, Iowa. Pallbearers were Nick Gotto, Les McClarty, Ralph Crilly, Tom Leesley, Chester Klaus and Kenneth McKenna. Survivors include his wife, Arlean of Eugene, Oregon; one daughter, Mrs. Marilynn Smith of West Burlington, Iowa, two sons. Duane of Donna, Texas and Allen of Eugene, Oregon, two brothers Cecil Allemang of Eugene, Oregon and Lawrence Petersen of Oakland Hills, California, four sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Vera) Hahn of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. Dame (Lois) Kelly of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. Ed (Lillian) King of Quimby, Iowa and Mrs. Maxine Mead of Oto, Iowa, his stepmother, Mrs. Margie Petersen, of Burbank, California, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (I'm not sure how to note this on Find-A-Grave.com, but has noted in the obituary published to the site, Wayne was the adopted son of Lewis and Ruby Allemang. His birth parents were WIlliam Peter Petersen (Grave ID 35364851) and Florence Pearl Woodward (Grave ID 35364773). Pearl passed away in Oct 1918, presumably as a result of complications from Wayne's birth. Wayne and his siblings were then fostered to the care of other families. However, in William Petersen's obituary his children are listed, including Wayne, so presumably they remained in contact, even if they were raised in different families.
