Jones, 83, who died Friday, October 1, 1993 at Riverview Care Center in Des Moines. Memorial graveside services were held at 3:30 at the Coon Rapids Cemetery. Wayne was born the eldest child of Janie E. and Ray Jones near Coon Rapids on July 23, 1910. He attended rural schools and Coon Rapids High School. On February 22, 1932, Wayne was united in marriage with Frances Myers. The couple farmed near Coon Rapids until after the birth of their daughter, Linda. Wayne was involved in agriculture most of his work life farming and driving truck. The family also operated the Lyric Theater in Coon Rapids for many years. After retirement in 1973 and the death of his wife, Wayne made his home in Des Moines with his daughter and son-in-law. In later life, he married Elberta Fjelland and lived a short time in Huxley. Wayne returned to Des Moines after the couple was separated by Elberta's ill health and resumed making his home with the Lehmans. Wayne was a member of the First Christian Church of Coon Rapids, and later Union Park Christian Church in Des Moines. Wayne died of complications of a stroke at the Riverview Care Center on October 1, 1993. He is mourned by his daughter, and son-in-law, Linda and Marvin Lehman; his stepson Paul Fjelland; his stepdaughter Donna Fjelland; five sisters: Ruth Mahaffey of Des Moines; Hazel Phillips of Des Moines; Dorothy Swanson of Des Moines; Jean Brooks of Kansas City, Mo.; and Shirley Chamberlain of Ankeny; two brothers: Ray Jones of Johnston and Russell Jones of Des Moines; by nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.
