Read More	Wayne Paul Meier December 24, 1925 ~ April 9, 2010 Wayne Meier, 84, of Battle Creek died unexpectedly Friday, April 9, 2010, at his residence. Services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove, Iowa, with the Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Maple Valley Post 364. Born Dec. 24, 1925, in Danbury, Iowa, Wayne Paul Meier was the son of Peter G. and Anna Marie (Voss) Meier. He received his education in the Danbury and Holstein, Iowa, areas through the eighth grade. He then attended Battle Creek High School. On April 29, 1944, Wayne was united in marriage to Audrey Sisson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. He served as a motorpool sergeant with the U.S. Army during World War II. He then returned to Iowa and worked for four years as a mechanic at Vivian Frank's Plymouth and Dodge car dealership and nine years at Brueck Construction Company. Wayne established his own business, Meier Motors, Sales and Repair, in 1961. An active member of his community, he served 38 years as a volunteer fireman in Battle Creek. He also was a 63-year member of the American Legion and was on the Ida County Conservation Board for 28 years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting and was a collector of countless antiques. He found special joy in numerous family camping and fishing trips to the Missouri River in South Dakota. He and Audrey had happy memories of their travels to Alaska and various other places throughout the United States. Survivors include his wife of nearly 66 years, Audrey; a daughter, Lois Bultman of Jackson, Minn.; two grandsons, Todd (Deb) Stork of Dayton, Ohio, and Greg (Stephanie) Stork of Mesa, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Riley Stork of Mesa; a sister, Dorothy Petersen of Battle Creek; a brother-in-law, Gayle (Audrey) Sisson of Goldfield, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Jan Burns of Dakota City and Cleta Sisson of Onawa, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Meier; and a son-in-law, Roger Bultman.
