The funeral was held May 12 at the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church with a private burial preceding the service. Wayne was born Jan. 15, 1927 to Edward and Minnie Turk. The funeral was held May 12 at the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church with a private burial preceding the service. Wayne was born Jan. 15, 1927 to Edward and Minnie Turk. He was their last child born and had six older brothers and one older sister. They have all preceded him in death. He is survived by wife Marian of 55 years and three children: Albert (Kelly) Turk of Benson, Ariz., Wanda (Don) Bandow of Conrad and Thomas (Barb) Turk of Apple Valley, Minn.; five grandchildren: Langdon Turk of Las Vegas, Nev., Brent and Kara Bandow of Conrad, Marta Turk Nelson of South St. Paul, Minn. And Judson Turk of Plymouth, Minn; one niece and three nephews. Wayne attended school in Conrad. He was drafted by the Army a week after his 18th birthday. He served his country in Japan. Wayne was honorable discharge at the rank of Private 1st Class. On May 10, 1953 [in Pondera Valley, MT], Wayne married Marian Julson on Mother’s Day. They made their home in Great Falls and raised their three children. Wayne worked 20 years as an auto mechanic for the Buick garage. In 1973, Wayne was given the opportunity to farm with his brother Jim. The family left their familiar surroundings in Great Falls and moved to Conrad to live on the family farm 12 miles east of Conrad. Wayne retired from farming in 1994 and they moved into Conrad. Wayne loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting, gardening and his grandchildren. He did not miss an opportunity to take or join his family in Glacier Park as often as possible. Wayne was a volunteer with the “Meals on Wheels” program. Wayne was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Great Falls, Golden West Lutheran Church and Pondera Valley Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial are suggested to the Pondera Valley Lutheran Church or Peace Hospice.--The Independent-Observer (Conrad, MT)
