Returned to the United States aboard the U.S.S. army transport Robert Burns, the body arrived in Franklin yesterday afternoon, and funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock this (Thursday) afternoon at the Clark’s Chapel Methodist church, with the pastor, the Rev. D. P. Grant, and the Franklin Presbyterian minister, the Rev. Hoyt Evans, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The local post of the American Legion will have charge on the graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Erwin Patton, Horace Nolen, Reid Womack, Lon Dalton, Phil McCollum and Owen Ammons. Color bearers and color guards will be Bobby Porter, Cecil Parker, T.L. Raburn and Arvel Parker, and the firing squad will be composed of Don Allson, Frank Reece, Siler Slagle, Robert Parker, Ralph Henson, Joe Bradley and Weaver Hurst. Harold Bradley will be bugler and the honor guards will be Horace Nolen and Owen Ammons. Acting as honorary escorts will be other members of the Legion in attendance. Mr. Vanhook, who was born September 3, 1922, attended the Franklin high school and was a member of the Clark’s Chapel church. He entered the armed forces in January, 1942, and went overseas in early 1943. He was member of Company A, 175th infantry, 29th division.
