Read More	Wayne Robert Gosch 1936-2009 Wayne Robert Gosch was born October 16, 1936, on a farm near Ute, Iowa. He died November 6, 2009 in Sioux City at the age of 73. Wayne was the son of Lawrence and Marie (Christiansen) Gosch. He attended Country school in the area. At the young age of 14, he developed his passion for work by helping local farm families with their work in the fields. He later served his country by entering the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the Mapleton area. On April 24, 1960, Wayne was united in marriage to Myrna Larsen at St Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. To this union three children were born. Over the years, Wayne worked for Simonsens, the Iowa DOT, Farmer's Coop, Terra Chemical and he was currently employed with Berne Coop. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, a former member and Assistant Chief of the Mapleton Fire Department, a former member of the Mapleton Jaycees, and a current member of the Mapleton Ambulance crew. Wayne demonstrated a sincere sense of volunteerism in the community. In need he always gave and expected nothing in return. He truly loved his family and was so very, very proud of his grandchildren. Those survivors left to cherish their memories of Wayne include Myrna, his wife of almost 50 years; three children, his daughter, Brenda Schaben and her husband Mark of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, a daughter Denise Gosch of Lakeland, Florida, and a son, Kevin Gosch and his wife, Suzie of Mapleton, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Jared, Alex, Marissa, Lexie, Keegan, Ella, Cambria and Tianh; one sister, Ladean Baird of Climbing Hill, Iowa and one brother and his wife, Gordon and Debra Gosch of New Castle, California; along with other extended family and countless good friends and coworkers. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first grandchild, Kyle Schaben, who died as an infant; one infant sister, Debra and one brother-in-law, Warren Baird. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Rev. Dr. Scott Fiege officiated. Honorary groups were the Mapleton Volunteer Fire Department and the Mapleton Volunteer Ambulance Service. Military graveside honors and interment was by the American Legion Loren Hollister Post # 496 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa.
