Read More	OBITUARY OF WAYNE RONALD BERRY -------- Wayne Ronald Berry was born Aug. 27, 1921 to Chester Lee and Phebe Elma(Troxel)Berry. He was the oldest of eight children.He went to several rural schools in Chase County, graduating from the eighth grade. The summer after his graduation he made his home with the Eldredge Baker family, living with them until he went into service on Aug. 13, 1942. Wayne was in the Quarter-Master Corps. During his tour of duty he served in the European theater of war from December of 1944 until August 1945. He was one of the first trucks across the pontoon bridge over the Rhine River and was in the "Battle of the Bulge". He also hauled gas at night to the tanks on the front lines. Some of his closest friends were from the service. He was honorably discharged November 1945. While in service he earned a Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter. Wayne and Nina Clare Artist were married on Aug. 8, 1947(in Imperial, NE). To this union were born four children. Wayne lived for his family. He loved farming and horses, too. They farmed south of Imperial just over into Dundy County. They moved into Imperial in 1983. Wayne became ill in 1985, but continued to help with the farming until the last couple years. Due to his failing health, he was no longer able to do much. Wayne passed away at his home early Saturday morning, Jan. 23, 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Irvin, his sister, Ilene Holliday and granddaughter, Karen Williams. He is survived by his wife, Nina; his children: Bonnie Williams and husband, Marty of Alma, Kan.; Ron Berry and wife, Becky, Marlon and wife, Vivian, all of Imperial; and Starla Berry of Hastings, Nebr.; seven grandchildren, Tamra and Pamela Williams, Stacy and Kevin Berry and Jason, Angela and Brett Berry. One of Wayne's best birthday presents came with the birth of Brett on his 63rd birthday. Other survivors include sisters Pauline Koval of Los Angeles, Ila McMinn and husband Claude of Cabool, Mo., Bonnie Ourada of Littleton, Colo., Beulah Rydquist and husband Arlie of Loveland, Colo. and Connie Mohlman and husband Jack of Ayr, Nebr. The Baker children, who were like brother and sisters to him include Arlene Bischoff of Phoenix, Arizona., Doris Johnson of North Platte, Joyce Christensen of Brainard, Nebr., Shirley Armbruster of Taylor, Nebr. and Gene Baker of Sutherland, Nebr. and a host of relatives and friends. Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1993 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Imperial, Nebr. with Pastor Karl Lent officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Ava Rouze, organist and Patrick McNair, soloist. Casket bearers were Gene Baker, Jerry Groff, Rodney Markee, Randy Bartlett, LeRoy Gram and Bob Eskew. Honorary casket bearers were Keith Wood, Mike Kessler, Frank Clements, Robert Bartlett, Harry Grams, Clarence Jaeger, Leonard Eskew, Pleasant Harris and Bud Todd. Military rites were by Imperial VFW Post #4688. Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Nebr., with Liewer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. -------------------------
