After firing the fatal shot, Manuel Sensibaugh, 70 years old, walked to Lakeport and gave himself up to Sheriff Lon Kelly. He is being held at the Lake county jail on open charges, pending an investigation by Sheriff Kelly and District Attorney Howard Crawford. Copsey is well-known in this region and is a cousin of Charles and Plea (Correction: Ples) Copsey of Ukiah. "He drew on me and I shot him in self-defense" was Sensibaugh's statement to Sheriff Kelly when he gave himself up. According to the story told by Sensibaugh, the two men had quarreled for years over a parcel of land, often having wordy battles. Monday, Copsey came over again, Sensibaugh said, and another quarrel ensued. According to Sensibaugh, Copsey drew a revolver in the course of the quarrel and fired a shot.
