He was born in Lovell, Maine in 1851, the son of Ephraim and Sally Butters Heald, who moved to Fryeburg Harbor when he was still a young boy. He has always made his home here. When a young man he was considered one of the best singers in the community and always attended the prayer meetings in the old schoolhouse and helped to lead the singing of the hymns. He was also a fine skater and was unusually popular with the young folks. He married Angette Dearborn and to them three children were born, Everett Heald, Mrs. Percy Jones, and Mrs. John Gray. There are six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The oldest man in the village, he was exceptionally keen until he died. The funeral was held on Thursday with the Rev. William Roberts officiating. He as laid at rest beside his wife who died March 19, 1895. A good and kind man, a friendly and helpful neighbor, he will always be remembered by his scores of friends who deeply mourn his loss.
